A maintenance of a machine is important for not producing defective products. But supervisors avoid it. There is a fundamental issue of a performance evaluation criterion. The supervisors are evaluated by productivity of the work and machines, therefor they avoid the maintenance which stops an operation temporary. They can't fully understand that stops/troubles of the machine or producing defective products will make (on the whole) a greater loss in the long run. I will suggest that managers should enlighten them about the importance of a machine maintenance through a conversation about a performance evaluation criterion with them and also informing them that an evaluation will conduct by long term results, not by short term productivity.
