気象庁やNOAAで発表されている文面は「何月にもしくは何日に400ppmを超えた」という表現になっているが、しかし実はこれは情報としてはいささか早合点をさそいやすい。CO2濃度は、春先に高く、夏に低いという季節変化をしており、いまこの現在のハワイや気象庁の夏のデータは400ppmにはなっていない。地球の平均気温は、CO2の瞬間の濃度だけで決まるわけではないので、年間を通して、全球規模でどうなったのかのほうが重要となる。

The Japan Meteorological Agency and NOAA use the expression "It was more than 400ppm on what date or in what month". In fact, however, this is likely to draw a hasty conclusion of information. CO2 concentration has variations; for example it is high in early spring and low in summer. The current data of Hawaii and the data of the Japan Meteorological Agency have not reached to 400ppm. Average temperature of the earth is not determined only by the concentration of CO2 on the moment. So what has become of the average temperature in the global scale all through the year is more important.
