境界の彼方は、妖夢と呼ばれる人間を脅かす異形のモノを狩る「異界士」たちの物語です。
主人公の神原秋人は飄々としていてどこにでもいる普通の高校生に見えますが、妖夢の血を半分受け継いだ「半妖」といわれる不死身の存在です。ヒロイン栗山未来は眼鏡がよく似合う高校1年生ですが、自分の血を刃に変えて相手を断つ能力を持つ異界士でもあります。「虚ろな影」と呼ばれる妖夢を倒すため、その練習台として（！？）秋人を襲います。

が、いつもドジり軽くあしらわれてしまいます。さらに眼鏡っ子が好きな秋人からは逆にいろいろ世話を焼かれます。
宿敵から施しを受けるのをよしとはしない…のが普通なのでしょうが、極貧生活で衣食住ままならない未来はたびたび秋人から食事を奢ってもらいます。
二人がそれぞれに抱えた「宿命」や「試練」など、シリアスな部分も多々でてきますが、いい意味で堅苦しくない展開が続きます。比較的安心して見ることができる作品です。

そして何かあるたびに決めぜりふ「不愉快です…」をつぶやく未来が、非常にかわいいです。攻撃をミスって慌てふためくところとか、やっているブログが絶えず炎上しまくりでへこんでいるところとか。よしよし、としたくなります。眼鏡っ子好きやドジっ子好きにはたまらないキャラでしょう。
ちなみにこの作品の製作が「京都アニメーション」。そう、学園祭のバンド回とエンディングのダンスが話題となった「涼宮ハルヒ」シリーズを作ったところです。今回も第６話で歌＋ダンスが披露されます。そこも要チェックです。

When she gets panicked after failing her attack and her blog is always in flame, I feel like caressing her head. Those who love clumsy girls or bespectacled girls will find her irresistible. Incidentally, this is produced by Kyoto Animation, which made the Haruhi series whose school festival band and ending dance became hot topics.
