申し訳ありませんが1行目にある"this Asama shrine"を'this Fuji Kawaguchi Asama shrine"に修正方お願いします。

As a matter of fact, Mt. Fuji is 3 stories. But what on earth does that mean?
100,000 years ago from today, what is now Izu Peninsula was next to present-day Hawaii. It gradually moved to the north and bumped into Japan's Honshuu island, which created the mountains. At that time Mt. Fuji was a little mountain one-story high. Afterwards, between 100,000 and 10,000 years ago, there were many large eruptions close to the small mountain. The repeatedly spurting lava cooled and layered on top of one another. In this way Mt. Fuji because two-stories and took on its current appearance.

Actually, the Mt. Fuji is a pile of three mountains on top of another. What does it mean by?
Way back to more than a hundred thousand of years, the peninsula known as the Izu peninsula now was yet located at a vicinity of Hawaii. It was inched towards West in tremendous amount of time and collided to the plate on which sitting the Honsyu of Japan, and then, a portion was uplifted and formed the bedding of Mt. Fuji known as the Komitake. About In between a hundred thousand years and ten thousand years ago after the Komitake was formed, there were numbers of volcanic eruption in the out skirt of Komitake caused discharging lava. The lava deposition resulting from the repeated volcanic eruption formed a mountain on top of the Komitake which was the second level of three piles and the ancestral shape of Mt. Fiji known as the old Mt. Fuji.

Actually, Mt. Fuji has three stories. What is the meaning of it?
About 10,000 years ago, the present Izu peninsula was located around present Hawaii. Then, it had moved toward North, hit the main island of Japan(Honshu), rose the ground, and conposed mountain. This became Komitake which was first story of Mt. Fuji.
After that, more than 10,000 to 100,000 years ago, there were lots of big eruptions besides Komitake. Because of the successive eruptions, the lava had gotten cold and been accumulated.
In this way, the basis of present Mt. Fuji and the second story called old Mt. Fuji was formed.

And then about 10,000 years ago, the "new" Mt. Fuji--modern-day Mt. Fuji--came about from lots of volcanic activity.
This repetitious volcanic activity created Mt. Fuji but in 864 there was also a major eruption. These eruptions didn't come from the main crater but rather came from "parasite volcanoes," eruptions from Mt. Nagao, which is northwest of Mt. Fuji.
These were eruptions from the Jougan era (859-877) and it's said that the lava that flowed from these eruptions flowed down to Lake Kawaguchi. The people who saw it were worried they too would be swallowed up by lava and are said to have built Asama Shrine to calm the eruptions.

Then, about 10,000 years ago, volcanic activity made new Mt. Fuji which is present Mt. Fuji.
In this way, present Mt. Fuji was formed by successive volcanic activity.
Also, there was big volcanic eruption in 864.
This eruption was from Nagaoyama, northwest part of the top of Mt. Fuji, not from the main crater called parasite volcano or monticule.
This is called Jogan eruption, and the lava of this eruption flowed down to Kawaguchi lake.
It is said that the people witnessed the scene was afraid of the erosion by the lava, and built the Kawaguchi Asama shrine to suppress the eruption.

About ten thousand years ago after the old Mt. Fuji was formed, the active and numerous volcanic activities discharged the lava and added lava deposition on top of the old Mt. Fuji which formed the current Mt. Fuji known as the new Mt. Fuji. As just described, the Mt. Fuji was formed by the numerous times of the volcanic activities, but there was a great volcanic eruption in the year 864 not from the main crater but from the crater called a parasitic crater or a lateral crater and formed a parasitic volcano or a lateral volcano know as the Mt. Nagao.
This volcanic eruption was named as the Jyokan great volcanic eruption and the lava flow was said to be reached in the vicinity of the Lake Kawaguchi. People watched and experienced in the middle of disaster at that time were suffered from acute fears as if they were fallen a prey to the lava flow, and after then, they reared the Kawaguchi Asama shrine with the hope of quietened down the volcanic eruption of Mt. Fuji.

申し訳ありませんが"formed a parasitic volcano or a lateral volcano know as the Mt. Nagao."を"formed a parasitic volcano or a lateral volcano located at the Northwestern outskirt of Mt. Fuji known as the Mt. Nagao."

As such, this Asama Shrine is filled with prayers to extinguish Mt. Fuji. Incidentally, "Asama" is an old word that means "volcano." (There are places all around Japan called "asama" and either now or in the past this meant they had volcanic activity.)
Now we're going to Haha no Shirataki, which has a deep connection to the story I told today.
As my story shows, Mt. Fuji has been a feared and respected mountain since long ago and so many people seeking its blessing climb it to pay homage at the shrine. This is known as "touhai."

In this way, Asama Shrine carries the prayer from people to suppress the eruption of Mt. Fuij.
By the way, Asama means the old word of volcano.(There are some places called Asama all around Japan, and they all means that there are or were volcanic activity.)
Then, about the mother's Shirataki(white water fall) we are heading to, it is closely related to what I told you now.
As I told you before, Mt. Fuji is the mountain which had been scared and respected for long time. Therefore, many people climb the mountain to worship for the benefit.
This act is called Mountain pilgrimage.

In order to visit a sacred place you must wash the sins of the world from you so it was necessary to purify yourself in the river or waterfall.
Haha no Shirataki was used as one such purification spot.
And because many people would come to this area to purify themselves so the could climb Mt. Fuji, it wasn't long before a town prospered here.
There was a group of priests known as "oshi" who lived in this region, taking care of those who came to purify themselves and managing the shrine. In this way they deeply connected the lives of humans with the area surrounding Lake Kawaguchi and the nature around Mt. Fuji.

To visit holy place, people need to take off the disgrace from the society. So, they had to prify the bodies in river or water fall. The mother's Shirataki(White water fall) was used as a place of the prification.
Then, many people visited this place for the purification before their Mountain pilgrimage, and this place prospered as a post-town.
The people lived around the post-town, took care of the people visited there for the purification, and administrated Shrine were called Onshi, the group of Shinto. In this way, the nature around Kawaguchi lake and Mt. Fuji is closely related to the lifestyle of people.
