English

Actually, Mt. Fuji has three stories. What is the meaning of it?
About 10,000 years ago, the present Izu peninsula was located around present Hawaii. Then, it had moved toward North, hit the main island of Japan(Honshu), rose the ground, and conposed mountain. This became Komitake which was first story of Mt. Fuji.
After that, more than 10,000 to 100,000 years ago, there were lots of big eruptions besides Komitake. Because of the successive eruptions, the lava had gotten cold and been accumulated.
In this way, the basis of present Mt. Fuji and the second story called old Mt. Fuji was formed.
