In conversation with author Tim Ferriss this week, Mullenweg elaborated on some of his productivity hacks, including his now-famous stint with the “Uberman” polyphasic sleep schedule. Xiaomi launches $325 Mi 4 in smartphone-hungry India

This is something smartphone-hungry India has been waiting for. Ever since disruptive startup Xiaomi from China entered India in July last year with its Mi 3, Indian smartphone enthusiasts have felt like poor cousins to their Chinese counterparts. After all, the Mi 4 had been introduced in China just a week after the launch of Mi 3 in India. But now, the wait is over – the Xiaomi Mi 4 launched today in India.

Samsung is the giant at the top of the beanstalk

Whatever the extent of these young brands emulating Xiaomi’s strategies, things like online sales, fan clubs, and more powerful budget phones appear to be the preferred plan of attack for many in the battle against Samsung. While Samsung still leads in India and Indonesia by a wide margin, and in China by a thinner thread, it’s clear that these tactics – fighting fire with fire – are also needed to take on Xiaomi as it ventures into emerging markets like India, Indonesia, and eventually Brazil.

Qraved was co-founded by Rocket Internet alumni Adrian Li and Steven Kim and has been called Indonesia’s first restaurant reservation app. In September 2013, the company raised seed funding from Rebright Partners, 500 Startups, and Skype co-founder Toivo Annus to expand the site as a restaurant directory and social network for foodies.

Between July and December last year, SimilarWeb estimates that Qraved was able to triple its web traffic to reach 90,000 monthly visitors, making it number one in the Indonesian foodtech market.

Established by local tech entrepreneur and former director of Rakuten Indonesia Tesong Kim and fellow co-founder Yoga Sugeharto, VIP Plaza launched just last February with funding right out of the gate from CyberAgent Ventures, and has seen a steady increase in traffic.

Traveloka is the quietest company in Indonesia that is also a potential unicorn. Founder Ferry Unardi dropped out of Harvard before coming back to Indonesia and starting the ticket booking site in 2012 and received seed funding from East Ventures a couple months into operations.
