It's 10pm here and I have just found out that the USPS attempted to deliver my view finder on May 1. They claim they left a notice of attempted delivery in my mailbox but I didn't get it. I found out about the delivery by checking the tracking number. I will attempt to get the view finder tomorrow morning but USPS has a polity of returning packages to the sender after waiting for five days. That will be May 6 tomorrow. I just want you to know that I do want the view finder so if they contact you about returning the package ask them to hold it. Thank you.

4G around the globe: Spain has the fastest LTE speeds, the U.S. has among the slowest

OpenSignal has published its second The State of LTE report, looking at aspects such as speed and coverage of 4G on a country-by-country basis.

The London-based company gathers a lot of useful data from its giant, crowdsourced sensor network, enabled through millions of people downloading its app to their smartphones. Indeed, it offers one of the biggest resources for independent data on the speed and network coverage of mobile networks, tracking coverage across the board, while presenting this data back to its users through its mobile apps.

It’s worth noting here that “time on” is OpenSignal’s own metric for recording LTE coverage, and considers the proportion of time a user has access to the 4G network rather than geographic spread. “Coverage is most important where users actually spend their time,” says the report.

BBC will give 1 million UK kids ‘micro-bit’ computers to create a programming nation

As part of a new program called “Make it Digital,” the BBC today announced a partnership with 25 companies to develop a tiny computer that it wants to distribute to 1 million kids in the United Kingdom.

Working with companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Samsung, the BBC will develop what it is calling a “Micro Bit” coding device, the simplest of computers that it will then distribute to every child ages 11-12 in the U.K. The goal is to teach kids some basic coding skills and then encourage them to step up to more advanced programmable hardware such as Arduino, Kano, and Raspberry Pi.
