日本自動車販売協会連合会と全国軽自動車販売協会が2日発表した2011年度の新車販売統計（速報）によると、総台数は前年度比3.3％増の475万3273台となった。年度でのプラスは2年ぶり。
11年度の新車販売は、東日本大震災からの生産が回復した昨年秋以降、増加に転じ、エコカー補助金が復活した12月からは大幅な伸びが続いた。ただ、プラスになったものの08年度から4年続きでの500万台割れとなった。
