一般的には、「漫画や映画や舞台などのキャラクターを真似して衣装を着る」
というくらいにしかコスプレの意味はとられてないのかもしれません。
でも、あまりのクオリティに圧倒され、言葉を失うこともあります。
コスプレをしていて自分自身もすごく楽しいですし、
人を喜ばせることができる最高のエンターテイメントだと思っています！

In general, cosplays might only be regarded as “mimicking the comic / movie / shows’ character and dressing like them”.
However, the quality of it is sometimes overwhelming and breathtaking.
I believe cosplay is a splendid entertainment, as me myself can enjoy cosplay, while pleasing others.

- You have made some cross-boarder exchanges!

Messages from foreigners were extremely devastating.
Until now, I have only regarded English as academic studies.
Cosplay made me realize that languages are communication tools, and that it is the first step to learn others’ cultures.

約8年程前にコスプレというものに出会い、姉のYC.優と二人で地元福島と東京のイベントで活動をしています。

－取材をさせて頂く前に、お姉さんと一緒に映っているお写真もいくつか拝見させて頂いたのですが、どれも原作を生かした世界観が素敵で。
どうしたらそんな表現ができるのでしょうか？

普段から、様々な作品・アーティストから影響を受けています。

I have encountered cosplay about 8 years ago, and am participating in events in Tokyo and Fukushima, my home-town, with my sister YC. Yu.
- I have seen several pictures of you and your sister before the interview. There were all fabulous with the vision faithful to the original piece.
How can you make such a depiction?

I am often influenced by various pieces and artists.

武内直子先生の原作そのままでも十分素敵だったのですが、
作品やキャラクターを知らない人にも楽しんで頂きたかったので、
思い切ってゴージャスな衣装にアレンジしました。

実は幼い頃、実写版のセーラームンを見たことがあったんですが、あまりにも
イメージと違ったことがショックでトラウマになってしまったんです。
人間が演じていることも前提の上で、全然違うよ!!!って。苦笑

－子供は、作り手の都合まで考えないですもんね。笑

It was already fabulous the way Naoko Takeuchi has designed in the original piece, but as I wanted people who don’t know the piece or the character to enjoy as well, I took my courage and arranged the costume to a gorgeous one.

As a matter of fact, I was shocked and traumatized watching the live-action version of Sailor Moon when I was a kid, as it was far different from my image.
I was aware that it is acted by human being, but couldn’t help saying “It’s far so different!!!” lol

- Children can’t understand producers’ circumstances. lol

－いつもご自身で制作されているんですか？

今では山のようにコスプレ衣装販売店ができましたが、
自分が始めたばかりの頃はそういった販売店がまだなくて。
なので全部手作りだったり、既製品を改造したりしていました。


－キャラクターの衣装を、実際着れるものにするのは難しそうですね…

もともとは『絵』なので、それをそのまま人間が着ると、あまりにダサかったり
違和感が拭えないことがほとんどです。(苦笑
もちろんそのままでも大丈夫なキャラクターもいます。

- Are you always making them by yourself?

Nowadays, there are so many cosplay costume shops, but when I started, those shops were not yet established. That’s why I had to make all by my self, or remodel clothes.

- It seems very difficult to reconstruct character costumes in to wearable shape.

It is originally a “drawing” so when you just wear it with no change, it is often too lame or have some sort of strangeness. (bitter smile)
Of course there are characters that do not need any changes.

でも大抵の場合は、現実にあってもおかしくないような衣装にするために、
アレンジを加えていますね。

－具体的にはどんな風にアレンジしていくのでしょうか？

私の場合、まずデザイナーのように絵を描きます。
全体の色合いや素材、バランスなどをこの時点で正確に決定しておくと、
その後の準備がとても楽になります。
イメージを固めるこの作業が、一番楽しくて大好きです。

－ブラックレディならではの工夫はありましたか？

However, most of the time, I arrange it to make the costume more reality based.

- Specifically, how do you arrange them?

In my case, I draw like designers do.
The preparation becomes far easier when the overall color shade, texture and the balance are accurately decided at this point.
I enjoy and love this operation of fixing the image, the most.

- Were there any elaborations distinctive to the character Black Lady?

キャラクターの雰囲気から、メイクをいつもより濃くしようと思い、
ギャル用の化粧本を読んで研究しました。
普通の化粧品では発色が悪かったので、舞台用のメイク用品も使っています。
あとはやはり、この髪型でしょうか。

－巨大なお団子2つという、かなり特徴的な髪型ですよね。

一番アクセントを持たせたかったこだわりのポイントです！
ですが、この不思議な形のお団子の作り方なんてどこにも載っていないかったので、
自分で編み出すしか方法がありませんでした。

From the character image, I decided to put on thicker makeup than usual, so I studied with the Gal-magazines.
The normal cosmetics were color-dulling, so I also used theater makeup cosmetics.
And as you can expect, this hair style.
- It is a very distinguishing hair style with two huge buns.
It is a point where I persistently wanted it to accentually stand out.
However, the way to make this enigmatic buns were not shown anywhere, so I had to create it on my own.

頭のお団子部分は紙粘土で土台部分を作り、ウィッグの毛束を接着剤で
張り付けています。お団子が完成したら細めの針金でウィッグ本体に固定。
結合部分が不自然だったので、造花でデコレーションして隠しました。


－この努力があって、この非現実的な髪型を再現しているんですね！

作るだけでなく、つけているときも苦労しました…。
ただでさえ長いバンスを二本もつけているので頭が重くて仕方なく、
しかも中に仕組んだ針金が頭皮にブスブス刺さって、正直痛かったです。笑

The base of buns on top of my head were made by paper-clays, and with hair bundle from wig glued on it. When the buns were made, I pinned it to the main wig, using thin wires.
The connecting part seemed unnatural, so I covered it up by decorating imitation flowers.

- I see, this effort has made this impractical hair style possible!

Efforts were needed not only to make it, but also when I was putting it on…
Two long bungs were heavy enough, but the wires inside has continually kept on attacking my scalp, and was honestly very painful. lol
