Applying for a credit card/bank account was very difficult. Also, I went on the electricity company website to pay a bill once and accidentally changed my bill to automatic credit card payments and I had to call to change it back and it took 2 months to process.

Signs are often in Japanese only. Pretty much all over Japan although it is getting better. The food labels would be great if they were also in English. And for western products, it is frustration when Japanese labels are put over the English instructions.

It really depends on the level in Japanese. I do not have trouble anymore. When I first came to Japan as a student, with no notion in Japanese, I was mostly troubled by the lack of information on daily usage products that you need to buy in supermarkets, or by menus. But not really with "official" orientation
