【桃太郎伝説のあらすじ】
老婆が川で洗濯をしていると川上から桃が流れてきました。
桃を家に持ち帰ると、桃から男児が生まれ、桃太郎と名前をつけて老夫婦で育てました。
やがて成長した桃太郎は老婆からきびだんごをつくってもらい、鬼ヶ島に鬼退治に出かけます。
途中、イヌ、サル、キジと出会い、きびだんごを渡して家来にしました。
桃太郎は家来と協力して鬼に勝ち、宝物を手にして老父母の待つ家に帰りました。（終）

[Synopsis of Momotaro legend]
A peach came flowing upstream from the river when a old woman was wash clothes.
The old woman brought the peach home where a boy was born, and she raised the child and named him Momotaro.
Momotaro who eventually grew up, asked the old woman to create millet dumplings, and heads off to exterminate the demon in Onigashima.
He met with a dog, a monkey and a pheasant during his journey, passed them the millet dumplings and made them his servants.
Momotaro won over the demon with the help of the servants and brought home the treasure back to the home where his old parents are waiting. (End)

岡山駅前には当然『桃太郎』の銅像が

In response to the news that it was renamed to Momotaro city, I went to Okayama city after a long time during the end of 2013.
Of course there was a bronze statue of "Momotaro" at the Okayama train station
together with the dog, the monkey and the pheasant.

There were also bronze statues of the dog, the monkey and pheasant who were servants to Momotaro.
The dog is on the left side of the picture, the monkey is on the right, and the pheasant is on the shoulder of Momotaro.

The citizen train, the low floored train boasted by the Okayama Electric Railway is named "momo".

Momotaro is also on the tram training cars.

岡山市と桃太郎の関係

Steamed eel is one of the delicacies of Yanagawa.

Grilled eel placed on omelet slivers steamed in a bamboo steamer placed on top of rice seasoned with thick sauce.

明治の後期から大正にかけて建てられた赤煉瓦の倉庫がそのままに残っています。
通称「竝倉（なみくら）」と呼ばれ、柳川を代表する景観の一つとして観光客らに親しまれてきました。

現役の味噌蔵として使われている一方で、平成12年に近代化遺産として国の登録文化財に指定されました。

川下りの後半にまっているのは緑のトンネル。

The warehouse which was built with red bricks from the late Meiji period until the Taisho period remains intact.
It is popularly known as "Namikura", and it has been popular with tourists as one of the landscapes of Yanagawa.

While it is actively being used as a miso storage, it was designated as a a registered cultural property of the country as a modern Heritage Site in year 2000.

The second half of the river is the green tunnel.
