桃太郎(ももたろう)は、日本のおとぎ話の一つ。
「桃太郎」が、お婆さんから黍団子(きびだんご)を貰って、イヌ、サル、キジを従えて、鬼ヶ島まで鬼を退治しに行く物語。
岡山市と桃太郎の関係
岡山市南部の吉備地方に伝わる「温羅(うら)伝説」(鬼退治伝説)と「桃太郎の鬼退治伝説」が似ていること、及び、きびだんごの「黍(きび)」と「吉備(きび)」の読みが同じであることなどから、岡山市は「桃太郎」にゆかりの深い街として、桃太郎を前面に押し出した街のPRをしています。

Kibi region in the southern part of Okayama city's "Ura's legend" (Demon extermination legend) is similar to "Momotaro demon extermination legend", the "Kibi" of millet dumplings and "Kibi " are pronounced the same way, and Okayama is doing PR pushing for Momotaro, as a deep connection of Okayama city with "Momotaro".
