- Merging

Branching is encouraged in Git and thus merging is accordingly a frequent operation. Leverage Git's efficient merge algorithms and learn how to deal with fast forward or conflicting merges.

- Rebasing

Git takes the idea of merging further with rebasing. Rebasing keeps volatile changes in a branch and guarantees that they will apply cleanly to the mainline when merged.

Report: Almost Every Chinese Adult Netizen Has a Weibo Account

How popular is Sina Weibo in China? The Chinese Twitter-like service saw a penetration of more than 88.8% among China’s digital populace aged more than 20, according to a report by DCCI, a Beijing-based Internet think tank. The whopping penetration means that almost every Chinese netizen has a weibo account.

As of this June, according to statistics by CNNIC, China Internet Information Center, China has more than 538 million Internet users and 388 million mobile Internet users.

Weibo users who subscribed to membership will enjoy privileges like can follow more than 2000 people (normally a Weibo user can follow up to 2000 accounts), audio post, and so on. In the past, Weibo released Wei games, Weihao and so forth to capitalize on its tremendous user base and traffic, though all these efforts failed to generate substantial revenue for the service.

WeChat Update Brings Video and Voice Calling to Its iPhone App

Remember those screenshots of a rumored new video calling feature in WeChat, the Chinese-made group messaging app that has more than 100 million users? Well, it turns out all that was true, and v4.2 of Tencent’s (HKG:0700) popular app is now live in the iTunes App Store with video and voice calling, and a whole bunch of other features. With this move, WeChat is clearly challenging Apple’s Facetime, as well as more traditional IM apps like Skype.

In a neat bit of implementation, you can switch between voice or video dynamically without having to end the online call. No word from Tencent, though, on how much 3G data these kinds of calls will take.

Chief among the other new features in this WeChat update for iOS – the Android refresh is expected soon, bringing the same goodies – is a web app interface that’s accessible at wx.qq.com. That allows WeChat users to type out messages more easily on their laptop or PC keyboard, and is accessed via a QR code (pictured right) that can be scanned with the QR scanner that’s already inside the WeChat app.
