袋の中には、伊勢神宮のお札と奉納金の受領や食費を記したメモと旅費の残りが入っていました。

「白」は町の評判になり皆から可愛がられますが、3年後に死んでしまいました。1804年～1831年頃の出来事です。

こうした話は全国に他にも残されておりまり、当時、街道沿いの人たちも主人に代わってお参りする犬たちを気遣い、
水を与えて休ませてあげたり、旅費の小銭が多くなっていたら両替して袋を軽くしてあげたり、
次の宿宛に手紙をつけた奉行もいたという微笑ましいエピエードが残されています。
