風が吹くたびに、たよやかに揺れ、甘く優雅な香りが漂う藤の花。
藤の花言葉は「優しさ」「歓迎」「決して離れない」「恋に酔う」である。
清少納言によって書かれた枕草子の中にも藤と松がセットで登場する一節がある。
深い色合いで、長い花房を揺らしながら咲いている藤の花が、松の木にかかっている様子の描写なのだけれど、藤は女性、松は男性ということを知った上で読むと、艶やかな着物をまとった女性が恋仲である男性に、寄りかかる様子を綴った、情緒あふれる一節だということが想像できる。
