　大臣を軽くあしらいながら、ザクロは王宮のほうへと歩いていった。
　自分の領内すら満足に出歩くこともできない程度の自由が、裕福な暮らしとの引き換えなのだろうか。
一瞬ザクロが可哀想に思えたのだが、ミズキは首を振った。

　ザクロに同情することなんてない。

　意味もなく意地を張って、ミズキは下男の住居に戻った。
　真昼間だというのに、住居は何故か静まり返っていた。
