That's not even French. That's Spanish...
Sorry, I didn't realize that the request was to translate into French. I've clearly stated I am a translator from English and from French into Spanish. That article appeared in my translation requests and I just thought it was to be translated into Spanish. By the way, your comment isn't very nice.
In fact it's in very bad faith because if you have nothing to say about a translation itself (which is the case here) you don't have to rate badly the work of a colleague. Your comment is evil-minded and I think that isn't the spirit of this page.
Hello alcirab. First of all, I'd like to say that I am very sorry that my comment offended you. That was sincerely not my intention. I'm sure you are a great translator and that you provide quality translations to Spanish. I understand that this one star rating must be frustrating for you and that your mistake was made in good faith. I unfortunately can't seem to be able to remove my rating.
That being said, I believe that the review system is in place so the customers paying to get quality translation get want they are expecting. Right before commenting on your translation, I reviewed two other attempts by other "translators" and they were horrible. They were a mix of Google Translate and someone still learning the language. One of them had ALL the accents wrong (they were the Spanish ones; "á" instead of "à"...), they other one was using the wrong gender for half of the nouns and they both had terrible syntax and used words in the wrong context. Then I saw yours. So I felt that a paying client should know that this was not a French translation as they were expecting, but Spanish. That's why my comment is not very tactful. It was not aimed at you, but rather at a client who might actually not be able to tell the difference between French and Spanish.
I'm still very sorry that you were hurt by the way I mentioned that the translation was into the wrong language. I let myself get frustrated a bit by the unprofessionalism of other translations. I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavours.
Hi, jdduq. It's OK. Apology accepted ;). The thing is that I'm a professional translator in real life. I joined this page full of enthusiasm and when I saw my first review with one star, I felt it like a cold shower. No hard feelings. Je vous souhaite le meilleur des succès.
I definitely understand. I'm so sorry that I so quickly gave the one star review without thinking that it was obviously an honest mistake. I'm in no position to judge the quality of your Spanish translations. I'll try to be more helpful to the other translators in the future (some of them need a lot of help!). Lo siento.
