The total number of kidney transplant nationwide reached 40,393 cases at the end of 2001. It is reported that among them, there are 3 patients who lived for 26 years after a kidney transplant operation. In 2001, 5,561 cases of kidney transplant operations were carried out at registered hospital in the country, and the annual number of cases is the second biggest after the U.S.
