スキーヤーが後方にバランスを崩して、それを前方へ引き戻そうとするときに、軽度膝屈曲位での過剰な大腿四頭筋の収縮によってACL断裂を引き起こすのに充分な脛骨を前方に引き出す力が生じる可能性がある。
もし前述したスキーヤーが膝伸展位で後方にバランスを崩したときに起きるboot-induced anterior drawer mechanismで生じるビンディングが上方への力で開放されるようにデザインされていたら、このメカニズムによるACLの断裂は減らせるかもしれない。
