■HomestayWebは2004年に運営者であるTomoがホームステイをもっと気軽にもっと自由に利用できるようなって世界中にホームステイが広がることを目指して個人で立ち上げたWebサイトです。
今でこそ民泊が一般的な宿泊手段となっていますが、当時はHSW以外に同じようなサイトはほとんどありませんでした。
ただ、ホームステイは、ホテルの代わりではありません。ホストファミリーの方もゲストの方も、文化交流を目的にして行っている方がほとんどであり、単純な部屋貸しビジネスではありません。
■HomestayWeb is a website that was singlehandedly built by Tomo, its operator, in 2004, with the objective of spreading homestaying all over the world by making it easier to use.
Nowadays private homes have become ordinary means of lodging but at the time there was practically no similar site other than HSW.
However, homestaying is not a substitute for a hotel. It is mostly carried out with both the host family and the guests having the goal of mutual cultural exchange and is not simply a room-rental business.
HomestayWebも、設立時の理念と変わらず、単なる部屋の予約だけをするサイトではなく、本来のホームステイの目的を達成する為のホストとゲストがお互いを見つけるサイトであり続けることを目指しています。
■実は、HomestayWebは他サイトと比べて利用料金は安いのです。
Airbnbを始めとする他のサイトでは、ホームステイの滞在期間のトータル料金に対して約15%の手数料が予約時に、徴収されます。基本的にゲストが支払う金額となります。
HomestayWeb too, with its founding principle unchanged, is not a simple room-booking site either. In order to achieve its objective of a true homestay, it continues to be a site where hosts and guests find each other.
■Actually, the fee for using HomestayWeb is cheaper compared to other sites.
In other sites, starting with Airbnb, a commission fee of approximately 15% to the total fee of the duration of stay in the homestay is collected. Basically, it is an amount which the guest pays.
HomestayWebの利用料金は、他のサイトとはまったく異なります。
HomestayWebでは、完全に固定の会員料金だけになっています。１ヶ月の会費は10ドル、１年の場合は50ドルです。（継続引き落としもいたしません。）
たとえば、Airbnbで1泊50ドルのホームステイを２週間予約した場合
例）支払い金額合計は50ドルx14日=700ドル
となります。この場合、Airbnbは15%（約100ドル）のサービス料金を取りますので、ゲストが支払う金額は約800ドルとなってしまいます。
The fee for the use of HomestayWeb is totally different from other sites. In HomestayWeb, it becomes only a completely fixed membership fee. 1 month membership fee is 10 dollars, a year is 50 dollars. (We will not continue to draw further payments.)
For example, if you booked a 2 week stay at 50 dollars a night at Airbnb:
Ex) Total payment is 50 dollars x 14 days= 700 dollars. For that case, Airbnb takes 15% (around 100 dollars) as service charges. Therefore the amount that the guest pays is approximately 800 dollars.
この金額はゲストが負担しますがホスト側が料金を抑える為にあらかじめ可能な限り低価格に設定している場合もありますので、実質的にはホストが負担していると考えることもできます。
■HomestayWebの利用料金は会費だけです。予約ごとの手数料はいただきません。
HomestayWebは個人が運営する会社で、他の大きな会社ほどの運営コストがかかりません。現状は会費だけで運営できています。そのかわり規模の違いもあって、サイトの機能やサービスで他の大手サイトほど充実しているとは言えません。
This amount is shouldered by the guest but there are cases where the host side will set a price as low as possible in advance in order to curb fees. Therefore it can be also thought of as the host shouldering the burden substantially.
■The fee to use HomestayWeb is just a membership fee. We do not take commission fees for each booking.
HomestayWeb is an individually-run company and the cost of operation does not take as much for other companies that are large. Our current status is we can operate on just membership fees alone. Instead, there is also a difference in terms of size. The site's functions and services cannot be said to be as enhanced as other sites which are large.
しかしながら、サイトにメールボックスも予約カレンダーも無いですが、ホストのみなさんは、ゲストの方と直接メールでやりとりして、ホームステイを開始するまでに十分に信頼関係を築いています。機能が少ない分、利用者の方がお互い積極的に交流されているようにも思います。
多くの他のサイトは、予約金（デポジット）がサイト運営会社の収益となっていますが、HomestayWebはメンバー様の会費で運営していますので、予約ごとに手数料をいただく必要がないのです。
However host families exchange E-mails with their guests directly, building enough trust each other before the start of home stay, although there is neither mail box nor booking calender on the website. With less functions users have more communication each another.
While many other website are financed by depodits, HomestayWeb is run by membership fee. Therefore there is no charge for each booking.
