八甲田山の麓に着いたならば、先ず山頂公園駅に向かい、ロープウェイで展望台を目指すことがおすすめです。赤や黄色に染まった八甲田連峰の紅葉が眼下に広がり、まるで空中を散歩しているようです。東北の秋が心を奪います。
いくつもの滝と様々な奇岩・奇勝を抱きながら、早瀬、深淵、急流、緩流とさまざまに変化して、十和田湖から約14kmにわたって流れる奥入瀬渓流は、日本の天然記念物に指定されています。川底まで見えるほど澄んだ渓流は樹々の枝葉の間から降り注ぐ陽の光によって、輝きを増します。
When you reach the base of Mt Hakkoda, head for the Sancho Koen Station where you can get to the observatory via the ropeway. This is the most recommended option which will offer a bird's eye view of the autumn leaves across the Hakkoda mountain range. You will feel as if you are strolling in mid-air and be touched by the beauty of Tohoku's autumn.
Oirase Gorge which boasts of numerous waterfalls, strangely-shaped stones, scenic spots, rapids, ravines and slow streams, is located about 14km away from Lake Towada and a designated natural monument of Japan. The water is crystal clear thus offering you a peek into the bottom of the river and the sunshine which comes through the gaps between trees increases the beauty of this place.
