Over 30,000 women have received training in trades such as forestry, food processing, and beekeeping that have helped them earn an income while preserving their land and resources. Through this approach, the Green Belt Movement is able to combat many of the wocial, political, and economic causes of poverty and environmental degradation in Kenya and other African countries.
