Even though the scoreline of America toward Japan is dominant by 22 wins, 0 loss and 3 ties, I can feel American team thinking the goddess of victory is not on their side. The former American coach Tony DiCicco commented, " Japanese team was playing for the reconstruction of their country, not only for victory," which has left an impression.
American people considered Japanese people praying for the reconstruction per se as the 12th player. Sawa Homare, a small mid fielder as the naming "Nadeshiko" says, overlaps David who defeated Goliath, a Philistine in the Book of Genesis, but is it just my imagination?

Even though the USA had one-sided victories as 22-0-3 against Japan, the team had frustration that the goddess of victory had not been with them. Mr. Tony Dicicco, the former US women's coach gave an impressive commnet, “They’re not just playing a soccer game. They’re playing to heal a wounded country,"
The 12th player the Americans imagined was the entire nation praying for its recovery. As the nickname nadeshiko, a frilled pink carnation represented, the little mid-fielder Ms. Homare Sawa resemled David who beat the giant Philistines Goliath in the book of Samuel, or was it only I who imagined so?
