検査は購入者においてはその商品を購入してよいかどうか、供給者の立場ではその商品を顧客に渡してよいかどうかを決めるために行う
品質判定基準との比較
検査は合否の判定を伴うため欧米では、判定の中立性を保つためその商品を供給する部門から独立した部門が行う考えがあり、逆に日本ではその商品を供給する部門が責任を持って行う考えが普及してきた。
最近の内部告発によるクレーム隠しの問題から欧米方式の考えを取り入れる傾向にある

Inspection is carried out in order to decide both whether to buy or not to the customer and wheter to sell or not to the the supplier.
Comparison of the quality criteria
Since test involves a determination of acceptability, in Europe, it is considered that judgement has to be conducted by the department independent from the product supply to maintain the neutrality of the determination. However, in Japan, judgement is usually conducted by the department responsible for supplying the products.
It tends to incorporate the idea of Western method after hidden the claims by whistleblower recently.
