The word "Idol" in Japanese culture refers to a person of the young generation that is considered very attractively cute or cool. For example, Pop singers, minor actors/actresses, TV personalities, photographic models appearing on advertisements and magazines, or others that appear in the media continuously over months or years. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that all of the young celebrities are recognized as "Idol".
