As for Japanese culture, the word idol implies talents of younger generation deemed especially charmingly adorable or either attractive, such as pop singers, actors of supporting or minor roles, TV celebrities, photo models featured in magazines or advertisements; in addition, it suggests their constant appearance in mass media over the span of months or even years. However, not all young performers are acknowledged as "idols".
