日本の文化におけるアイドルとは、特に魅力的で可愛い、もしくはかっこいいとみなされる若い世代の人物を指し、例えばポップス歌手、脇役・端役などの役者、テレビタレント、雑誌や広告などに掲載される写真モデル、その他として、数か月から数年に渡って継続的にマスメディアに登場する。しかしながら、全ての若い芸能人が「アイドル」と認識されているわけではない。

The word "Idol" in Japanese culture refers to a person of the young generation that is considered very attractively cute or cool. For example, Pop singers, minor actors/actresses, TV personalities, photographic models appearing on advertisements and magazines, or others that appear in the media continuously over months or years. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that all of the young celebrities are recognized as "Idol".
