The service for NRIs (Non Residential Indians) helps them book and pay for health checkups on behalf of their families, and receive feedback directly from the doctor.
The seed fund will be used to expand the website’s team of six to 16 across its offices in India and Singapore. There are plans to also introduce the platform to more cities across Asia.
Co-founded by Abhinav Krishna, OurHealthMate was incubated at JFDI Asia’s accelerator program in 2013. Prior to JFDI, the website was a part of Startup Chile, an accelerator funded by the Chilean government. According to an official statement, every year 22 million NRIs remit US$10B back home to India to pay for the healthcare of their loved ones, thus making services for expats a new trend in making.
To leverage the service, NRIs can log on to the website and select services for their preferred city. After selecting the medical package, users need to submit their information and confirm.
Indian expats are based widely worldwide, wherein expat services are yet to take roots.The medical packages start from $17 and go higher with the increase in services.
