Rinは、今も昔もHarukaのライバルです。
彼は幼い頃、Haruka達と同じスイミングクラブに所属していましたが、より速く泳ぐようになるためにオーストラリアへ留学しました。
そしてHarukaが高校二年生になった時、再び再会したことで、Free!の物語は始まります。
彼は昔から水泳への執着が強く、Harukaと違って勝負にこだわる少年でした。
社交性が高く、誰とてもすぐに仲良しになる、笑顔が似合う少年でした。
ですが1話で再会した時、彼の明るさはどこにもありませんでした。

Rin has been Haruka's rival since long ago and even now.
When he was little, he was in the same swimming club with Haruka and the rest. But in order to swim faster, he went to further studies in Australia.
When Haruka became a high school sophomore, they were reunited again. This is where the story of Free! begins.
Since long ago, he has been strongly attached to swimming, and not like Haruka, he is particular in winning.
He has good social skills, gets along with anyone quickly, and has a beautiful smile.
However in episode 1 when they all reunited, there was no sign of his brightness anywhere.

He saw Haruka again when he was the senior student of high school. The story of Free! starts with that scene.
Rin has had a deep attachment to swimming. Different from Haruka, he is a competitive boy.
He is sociable and easy to make friends. He has a nice smile.
However when they saw each other in the first episode, his brightness was not seen anywhere.

これから彼はHaruka達の水泳部と、もう一度戦うことになるでしょう。
その勝負に対する「ギラギラした強い思い」が彼の魅力だと私は思います！
…ですが、EDでは。本編の冷たい態度とは一変、幼い頃の様な無邪気な笑顔を見せてくれます。
可愛いです。ムキムキなのに可愛い。Rinは不思議な人です。

He is so persistent about becoming a winner and he gives cold shoulder to Makoto and Nagisa whom he used to play with in his childhood.
Nobody knows for sure why Rin who used to be cheerful and nice has changed,. But we will find out a little hint at the episode 2.
He will fight with Haruka and his other swimming club mates once again.
I think his charm is such his strong desire to become a winner with his manly "can-do-it spirit"!
...however, at ED, his cold attitude changes suddenly and he shows us his sweet and cute smiles..
His is cute. He is so manly but cute. Rin is such a unique person.
