日本では第二次大戦に送り出す家族のために、日の丸の白地に名前やメッセージを記して家族の健康を祈願しました。兵士はこうした旗を洗浄で持ち運びました。
今回出品するのはその中でも非常に珍しい、挿絵の入った軍旗です。署名だけが書かれた旗には無い思いを感じます。
日本の親族がこうした大切な旗を保有し続けることができないことは、日本人としては大変残念に思います。

In Japan, people wrote signatures and messages on the white part of Japanese national flag, Hinomaru, for the family members who were shipped out to the World War II, to pray for their health. Soldiers carried these flags on the battlefield.
The item which is entered this time is one of the rare flags with illustrations. You can feel something different from other flags with only signatures.

だるまの絵や風水画などがみごとに描かれています。78年間大切に保管されてきた品です。
日本の博多地方に伝わる「にわかの面（Hakata Niwaka Mask）」が書かれた旗です。さらに零戦の飛行機やサングラスの人物など、めったに見ることのない構成です。

This is a flag with messages and signatures written by families, relatives and local well known people, given at the time of joining Kaiheidan in 1945.
Pictures of Daruma and geomancy are wonderfully drawn, and it has been treasured for 78 years.
The flag has a drawing of Hakata Niwaka Mask which is a tradition in Hakata, Japan. Moreover, it also has a very rare format of a Zero and man with sunglasses on.

The flag was prepared by the family members, relatives and local celebrities with their messages and names on it just before the enlistment to Kaiheidan, Marine Corp literally, in 1945.
A Daruma doll and Chinese Fen Shui to bring good luck are excellently drawn here.
