アーティスト、北川貴好（きたがわ・たかよし）は主として建築やランドスケープの特性を活かしたアート作品をこれまで数多く発表してきました。
特に、せんだいメディアテークにおける「“10 Anniversary of Sendai Mediatheque “HOW BARRIER IS”」ではメディアテークの建物の南側のダブルスキンガラスの両面にクラフトペーパーを使い、透明でなかなか来館者が気づいてこなかったガラスを、両面に紙を貼ることによって見事に意識づけました。
まさに北川氏がそれまで行ってきた、建築を意識させながらも建築を大きく超える可能性を顕在化させるという決定的作品であることは疑いなく、スケールやコストからも彼と当館の代表作と言っても過言では有りません。
また以前より伊東豊雄氏の建築であるメディアテークとしては建築的なアプローチでコラボレーションしながらインスタレーション作品を制作できるアーティストと恊働することを考えてきたのでこの１０周年のプロジェクトは非常にお互いにおいて意義深い結果を得る事ができました。
その後も、黄金町バザールや Asahi Art Squareでの活動を経て最近は人と人を結びつけるワークショップに、またメディアも建築から写真へと大きくその活動の幅と意味を変化させながらも、北川貴好の世界を拡張させていっています。
このたび貴組織でのレジデンスプログラムに応募すると聞きましたので、北川貴好氏の作品世界の更なる飛躍と貴組織への貢献、また先方での施設においてのプロジェクトにおいて必ずや最高、最良、最適な作品を発表することを確信しここに推薦するものといたします

Letter of Recommendation
The artist, Takayoshi Kitagawa, brought out a large numbers of artistic outputs with mainly leverage attribute to the architecture and the landscape.
Particularly for “10 Anniversary of Sendai Mediatheque, HOW BARRIER IS” at the Sendai Mediateque, the transparent double skin glass wall facing South of the building, which the visitors were hard to aware of, was amazingly made the visitors recognize by affixing both sides with the Washi tape or the craft paper-backed tape.

Besides, the 10th anniversary project led to the significant output to each other as the Mediatheque, designed and constructed by Mr. Toyoo Itoh before, has been considering of cooperating an artist in creating an installation output with the mutual collaboration while taking the architectural approach.
It is no exaggeration that it was his outstanding work and the representation of this Mediatheque in terms of the scale and expenses provided.
Besides, the 10th anniversary project led to the significant output to each other as the Mediatheque, designed and constructed by Mr. Toyoo Itoh before, has been considering of cooperating an artist in creating an installation output with the mutual collaboration while taking the architectural approach.
After then, Mr. Takayoshi Kitagawa has been expanding his world with widening his range and sense towards activities participating the bazaar held at Ogoncho and Asahi Art Square which has influenced him to hold workshop for uniting people, and changing his media of output from the architecture to the photograph
