トウドウは新撰組八番組組長で、周りと比べて少し背が低いところが特徴です。元気で明るい性格で、千鶴とは最初の頃から仲良く接していました。

藤堂は新撰組の中でも原田と永倉と仲が良く、アニメの中ではよくふざけあっています。ふざけあっている場面は見ている方まで楽しい気分になります。この３人の話では、10話がお勧めです！永倉が藤堂に呼びかけて、３人一緒に戦う姿は見応えがあり、かっこいいです！
