Twenty of these adjectives were grouped together a priori into four superordinate trait clusters. The first cluster was developed to assess the tender and loving qualities of a partner. The second cluster assessed stereotyped masculinity with the following items: aggressive, ambitious, clear-thinking, intelligent, and realistic (Cronbach's α= .69).
