Japan is now importing evern more food than then. The Protect the Earth Association is an NGO in Japan that supports "local production, local consumption" . Thanks to their efforts, approximately 30 large supermarkets in the Tokyo area now display the source and CO2 emissions of the food they sell. Furthermore, one eatery in Yokohama has proudly named itself 80*80, indicating that 80 percent of its ingredients are grown or produced within a radius of 80 kilometers.
