1970年に引退してからは、製造地の郡山市の公園に展示保存されています。
日本の蒸気機関車は旧日本国有鉄道の指定で黒で統一されていた。
現在では、日本各地で保存されていた蒸気機関車を修復して、観光用に運転され人気になっている。
