計測器の定義
一般的な定義では、計測器とは長さ、重さ、電圧等の物理的な量の大きさを測るものをいいますが、ASではこれらに加え、ゲージ等の判定を行う測定器具も含まる。
量の大きさとは、長さ、重さ、個数等の大きさをいい、物理的状態とは、量の大きさを含む温度、圧力、電圧等の大きさをいいます。
判定とは、製・部品の長さなどの量または物理的状態が図面等に示された規格内であるか否かの判断をすることをいう。
限界ゲージのように特定寸法の範囲内である事を判定するための器具も計測器に含まれる。
