< It was good >
I went with five friends. Just like the details say, our guide's explanation was easy-to-understand and made for a fun tour. But the Bridge of No Return (?) was under construction and we couldn't go, unfortunately. I think next I want to go on the DMZ tour with the tunnel and go to the Bridge of No Return (?).
The meals were a little disappointing... well, I guess they're okay for people who are like, "well, it's free so it'll do."

GOOD

We all five members participated in the tour. The explanation of the conductor was so clear and it was so fun just like we’d heard before. However, it was sorry that we couldn’t get to the bridge unable to get back? as it was on the construction. We’ll participate in the DMZ tour including the tunnel and we want to get there as well.
Meals was kind of little bit bad, well, but it will be OK if you think of meal just as the optional one.

< Went on the Panmunjon Tour>
On Aug. 31, 2013 (Fri) I was able to also go on the Panmunjon tour, which I had been wanting to go on for a while.

Up until now the only information I had on North Korea came from the TV but this time I was finally able to step along the boundary between the north and south with my own feet and see it with my own eyes.

There were written warnings about clothing for participating in this tour but right now they don't seem to be that picky.

Participated in Hanmonten tour
We’d thought of Hammonten tour plan for a long time. At last we participated in it on 31th Aug Fri, 2013.

So far we always had chance to know North Korea just through the news from TV. This time we actually stepped into the boundary of north and south, seen expressly with my eyes.

You might have a note of caution for clothes to participate in the tour, but now it is not so strict.

A guard from the South Korean side entered our bus for a clothing check but he just said to please prepare a few pieces of clothing just in case to those in the international culture service club or those wearing unacceptable clothing on the tour.

As for Panmunjon...
I didn't feel nearly as nervous as I imagined I would.

BUT!!!!

There was a point where our always kind guide raised his voice when speaking about the history of the north and south.

There were Korean soldiers to check our dress code on our bus, guarding the safety for the bus as well. We were on service of International Cultural Service Club this time and it prepared for some spare clothes in case for those not suited for the dress code.

Then, got to Hanmonten,
I was not so nervous as I’d expected.

However!!

The tour conductor, always talking about the history of South and North in gentle tone, raised its voice at one time.

They warned us once to "Never point your finger at the North (North Korea)!" but I unconsciously ended up doing so.
And then they yelled, "What did I just say!! Don't point!"
That was where I felt the tension between the north and south.

They explained that because far away (in the north) they can't see us well
so finger-pointing = looks like pointing a gun.

“Don’t stab a finger toward the North (Korea)!”It was a note of caution the mentioned before, but one of the participants unconsciously did that.
Then, the tour conductor raised the voice “Just I said before not to stab a finger! Never do that!”
I felt kind of expression of the tension between North and South.

According to the explanation, finger pointing seems like pointing a gun as a finger can’t be seen clearly from far point (North Korea).

Inside a Panmunjon shop our guide told us, "Don't go in there behind a guard! If you do then they will think you're a defector to the north."

- Guns
- Defectors

This is the tour where these two words that you normally don't have reason to talk about in life come up naturally...

I wrote in the beginning that "I wasn't nearly as nervous as I thought I would be" but, of course, those of you considering one of these tours should go with more awareness than most and be sure not to cause any trouble for the on-site guides.

In Hanmonten, the tour conductor told me “Don’t go behind the soldiers! They’ll think you’ll go into exile.”

Gun,Exile, etc.

On this tour we had such a real chance to hear these unfamiliar words in daily life.

At the beginning, I mentioned “I was not so nervous as I’d expected.”, but if you have an idea to participate in the tour, we believe that you have to feel nervous enough, and please make sure not to bother local tour conductor.
