Codemi brings online learning to Indonesia

Online learning has grown exponentially over the past few years, with western organizations like Codeacademy and Lynda.com ranking among some of the better known providers of skill-development classes.

Codemi, or Collaboration Academy Indonesia, is a website that aims to bring online education to Indonesians through video, audio and presentations. It started when the three co-founders were irked by obstacles and barriers to attending seminars that were scattered across continents, and wanted an easier way to acquire new skill sets.

Codemi currently offers a just a few business related courses. The team hopes to keep its focus narrow for the time being, stating that it will venture into other subject categories in the second quarter of 2014. At the moment the service is available for free and according to CEO and co-founder Zaki Falimbany, monetization is not the team’s current priority. They are, however, looking for investors.

This concept is not new in Indonesia, similar sites exist such as Medidu and Wikasa but Codemi hopes to set itself apart from the competition through exclusive content and partnerships.

I received a guitar from seller C on February 12 but it was defective.
I just requested a refund for the price of the item and the return shipping to US to the seller by e-mail.

The item is a guitar but its switch was broken, and its washers and nuts were loose.
Also the body of the guitar has scratches. Moreover, I bought a hard case with the guitar for $* but it also has many scratches which are intolerable.
I am disappointed that such a bad item was received through an eBay purchase.

Line makes more money than any other non-game app in the world

Line‘s active user count might be an enigma, but the latest edition of the App Annie Index shows outside of games, Line was the top earning app and publisher in the world in 2013.

Line ranked ninth in the list of most downloaded publishers in the world. It’s the sixth most-downloaded app outside of games.

According to the report, Japan surpassed the US as the top country in terms of app revenue, driven largely by games on Google Play. That means Line’s home market likely helped push it to the top of the highest earners list.

Japan’s Terra Motors brings a $29,000 super electric scooter to India

Japan’s Terra Motors Corporation today released its Kiwami electric bikes in India. With a $28,730 price tag, Terra Motors wants to attract affluent youths in India looking for an eco-friendly solution for their day-to-day transportation.

The Kiwami e-bike tops out at 160 km/h, and the company says it accelerates like gas-powered bike with a 1,000cc engine. The bike takes six hours to fully charge and can travel over 200 kilometers on a full battery.

Pressy Button, a small gadget for Android devices, landed on Kickstarter in August 2013. It drew much media attention as it met its fundraising goal in a single day. Two months later the project ended up with more than 7 times of its goal in funding from more than 28 thousand contributors.

Before long Pressy would come across many Pressy Buttons on Alibaba.com, the marketplace ran by Alibaba Group for Chinese to sell goods overseas. The search query “Pressy” returns a lot of results featuring Pressy Button. None of them, of course, is by Pressy team.

Pressy, like many nowadays makers, outsourced a component to a Chinese manufacturer. But the team don’t think that has much to do with the quick emergence of counterfeits, for they don’t believe those sellers on Alibaba or some other crowdfunding platforms have already had the product in their hands but just the idea.
