調査テーマ
前回までの調査では、距離とスピードの調査を行い、様々な利用方法が検討できる結果となりました。
しかし、より具体的な利用シーンを検討する上で、避けられない疑問があります。
「iBeaconの電波って、人とか建物とか貫通するの？」ということで、最後の4回目の調査は iBeaconの電波の「透過性」について実験を行います。

調査概要
発信側のビーコン端末と受信側のiPhone5Sの間を様々な材質の障害物で遮り、通知できるかを実験します。

Research theme
Until the last survey, we conducted a survey on speed and distance, and then obtained a result for us to consider of using a variety of methods.
However, there is a question that can not be avoided when we examine more specific scene to use it: "Does the radio waves of iBeacon penetrate a building or a person?" So, as the last fourth research, we are going to experiment on "transparent" of the iBacon radio wave.

Research summary
This research intercept obstacles of various materials between the originating beacon terminal and the receiving iPhone5S and experiment if they can notify each other.

障害物
今回実験した障害物は、以下の4種類です。
鉄（キャビネット、冷蔵庫、ドア、エレベーター）
肉（人体）
水（風呂）
砂（公園の砂場）

調査開始

①　鉄　（キャビネット、冷蔵庫、ドア、エレベーター）
さっそくオフィスにある色々な鉄で実験開始です。
まず手始めにスチール製の袖机で試します。

難なくクリア。
お次は一般家庭用サイズの冷蔵庫にトライ。
問題なく通知出来ました。
まだまだ余裕ですね。

割りと丈夫そうなビルのドアはどうでしょうか。
画面が切り替りました。まだ電波が届いているようです。

The start of the survey

① iron (Cabinet, refrigerator, door, elevator)
We started the experiment with a variety of iron in the office immediately.
First, we tried a steel sleeve desk as a starter.

It was penetrated without any difficulty.
Next, we tried refrigerator which was general household size.
It was passed through without a problem.
There was still room.

What about a door of building that seemed comparatively strong?
The screen was switched. The radio waves were still reachable.

さてお次はエレベーターのドア。ドアの厚さは約15cmです。
おや？
しばらく待ってみましたが、結局エレベーターの中からは通知出来ませんでした。
結果「鉄はビルのドアぐらいまでなら貫通する」という結果となりました。

②　肉　（人体）
鉄の次は肉の調査を行います。
手軽な肉の調達を検討した結果、人体で調査を行うことになりました。

さっそく会議室へ肉の皆さんに集まってもらいます。

手始めに、お腹の所にビーコン端末を抱えたテックレッドに、壁側を向いてもらいます。

バッチリ通知成功ですね。

Now next try was the elevator door. The thickness of the door is about 15cm.

So we obtained a result that "as for the iron, the radio penetrate up to the door of the building".

② meat (human body)
Next to the iron, we investigated the meat.
As for the result of the examination of the procurement of handy meat, it was decided to carry out the investigation in the human body.

We gathered people as the meat in the conference room immediately.

As starters, we let the Tech Red with a beacon terminal at their stomach toward the side wall.

It was a perfect success of the notification.

③　水　（風呂）
三つ目は水深を調査します。
河川での実験も考えましたが、まずは手近な風呂で試してみました。

ビーコン端末をジップロックに入れてお風呂タイム。
お湯が溜まっていくユニットバスの横で、ビーコン端末から通知が来るか、こまめに確認を行います。
まだまだ浅いからと油断していたら、さっそく通知が来なくなりました。
風呂のお湯を徐々に抜きつつ、通知が来る水深を探ります。
水深約10cmのところで、画面が新宿に変わりました。

③ water (bath)
The third try was to investigate in the water depth.
We thought to have experiments in the river, but first we tried in a handy bathtub.

Bathing time with the beacon terminal in Zip-lock.
Next to the unit bath which hot water is gradually accumulated, we checked frequently if the notification would come from the beacon terminal.
I had off guard because I thought the water was still shallow still, but suddenly the notification no longer came.
While gradually removing the hot water bath, we explored the depths where notification comes.
At about 10cm depth, screen has changed in Shinjuku.

42m地点、黒いiPhone の画面が新宿に変わりました。しかし、白い iPhoneは五反田のまま、反応がありません。

しばらく待っても変化がないので、そのまま白い iPhoneのみ近づいていくと、23m地点で受信を確認しました。

同じ環境で通信距離に差が出るという不可思議な状況に疑問を感じながら、引き続き様々な電波強度のビーコン端末を使って試してみます。

何度も試したところ、下記のような結果になりました。
