Phrases like "I'll put the kettle on","Would you like some tea?"and"Let's have a nice cuppa" arecommon in real life as well as in literature and dramas.
The kettle is often put on when someone is feeling bad about making tea George Orwell wrote that 'a nice cup of tea' was "acomforting phrase".
