現政権は日本経済再生本部を2013年1月8日に初めて開き、緊急経済対策の骨子を示している。その中にイノベーション創出の促進が見られる。現首相が前の任期でも主張していたように、経済成長にはイノベーションが不可欠だと日本政府は認め続けてきたが、期待通りの成果が上がったという話は聞かない。現首相を始め政府はイノベーションが生まれる過程を考えたことがないのではないかと思わずにいられない。

経済成長におけるイノベーションの重要性を説いたのがヨゼフ・A・シュンペーターである。

The current government convened the first meeting of Headquarters for Japan's Economic Revitalization on January 8th 2013,endorsing the outline of the government's emergency economic package, which includes the promotion to create the innovation. As the current prime minister strongly stressed in the previous term of office, the Japanese government has continued to recognize that the innovation is essential for economic growth. But we have never heard that it is performing up to expectation. I can not help feeling that the government, including the prime minister, has never consider the process to create innovation.

Joseph Alois Schumpeter is one of those who explained the importance of innovation in economic growth.
