現政権は日本経済再生本部を2013年1月8日に初めて開き、緊急経済対策の骨子を示している。その中にイノベーション創出の促進が見られる。現首相が前の任期でも主張していたように、経済成長にはイノベーションが不可欠だと日本政府は認め続けてきたが、期待通りの成果が上がったという話は聞かない。現首相を始め政府はイノベーションが生まれる過程を考えたことがないのではないかと思わずにいられない。

経済成長におけるイノベーションの重要性を説いたのがヨゼフ・A・シュンペーターである。

The current regime launched "Headquater for the Revival of Japanese Economy" as an emergent solution for the economic crisis. Along with its launching, innovations are expected to take place throughout the field. As Mr. Abe, the current prime minister insisted during his previous term, Japanese government has admitted that innovation is so necessary that economic growth could not be achieved without it. Although the government realized the truth, however, the result was not satisfying. In my opinion, maybe it is because the members of the goverment, including the prime minister himself, have never thought about how innovation happens.

Joseph A. Schumpeter, is one of them who emphasized the importance of innovation for economic growth.
