あたらしい土地で情報を得る場合も職を探す場合も、「お願い」することが大事なのではなく、「自分はなにができるのか」ということを明確に伝えられる事が大事なんだと思います。
また、どうにか情報を得たいと思ってウロウロするより、自分はこのようなことが出来ると日々発信したほうが、結果的に情報が集まってくるものだとも思います。さらにはなにか得ようとするより、多くの人たちに良いことを与えようとすること。これが、いつの時代も大切なこと
で、実は情報時代を生き抜く秘訣なんだと思いますよ。

When you want to acquire information and job in new land, I think what's important is to clearly state "What I can do" instead of "asking".
Also, rather than wandering around trying to get information, I think you can collect more information by sending messages about what you can do on daily basis. Furthermore, before trying to get something, try to give goodness to many people. This is important in any era.
And, I think this is in fact a secret to survive the era of information.
