The “Shirakawa-go” in Gifu Prefecture is famous as a World Heritage. This is one of the rare places in Japan where the traditional architectural style, “Gassho-zukuri” houses have been preserved, and where you can enjoy the original scenery of Japanese farming villages.

The Gassho-Zukuri villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama were registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in December 1995. The beautiful Gassho-zukuri houses built in the Edo Period and the traditional appearance of Japanese farming villages still remain.
