日本自動車工業会（自工会・豊田章男会長）は、10月6日から14日の9日間、お台場エリアでクルマ・バイクに興味のない層にも訴求する新イベント「お台場学園祭2012」を開催することを決定した。

クルマの夢・楽しさを伝えていくことを活動の柱としている自工会では、昨年、東京モーターショーを24年ぶりに東京で開催し、会期を前回よりも3日間短縮するも、会期中の総来場者数は前回比37％増の84万人と成功裏に終えた。
来年秋には第43回東京モーターショー2013を控えている。 来場者数アップにさらなる弾みをつけるためにも、その前年にあたる今秋に「お台場学園祭2012」を開催し、一人でも多くのクルマファン・バイクファンを獲得する構えだ。
また、「お台場学園祭2012」のあと、10月20・21日には、同じお台場エリアでNPO法人日本モータースポーツ推進機構の主催する、日本最大級のモータースポーツの祭典「モータースポーツジャパン2012」が開催される予定。自工会では、同イベントとも連携する。
