The preamp is in excellent original cosmetic and electrical condition. I am the original owner and I purchased the unit new in 1984. I recently tested all inputs and outputs and they operate as expected. Switches and potentiometer (pot) make moderate scratching noises in the preamp output when rotated. (You could silence the noise by spraying contact lubricant into the pot and switches. To keep the preamp 100% pristine, I chose not to.) The equipment has never been repaired, serviced, or modified. The PAM-3 served as the control center for my high-end audio system for many years; it shows minimal wear and tear and no visible gouges, dents, or scratches. To my ears, the sound remains beautiful.
