福島県福島市から山形県米沢市を結ぶ道路は、1881年に開通し明治天皇により万世大路と名付けられた。
二ツ小屋トンネル(384m)は、万世大路に2つあるトンネルの一つです。
1934年(昭和9年)に自動車が通行できるように、拡張工事が行われました。
1966年(昭和41年)には、冬季の豪雪時にも通行できるように新たな場所にトンネルを開通させ、万世大路はその役割を終えて廃道になりました。

Futatsugoya Tunnel (384m) is one of two tunnel on Bansei Oji road.
An extensive construction took place in 1934 for vehicles to pass.
In 1966, a tunnel was opened in a new location allowing the traffic go through in the heavy snow in winter. So Bansei Oji has finished its role and have become an abondoned road .
