企業は様々な考え方を持つ人々から、これらに賛同し共感する人材を集めことが必要で、理念や企業ビジョンは人材確保時に於ける会社の『顔』となり、経営方針や経営計画の前提条件となる。
企業は事業環境等の変化により常に変化を求められ、これに変化に対応できなければ市場からの退場を余儀なくされる。
しかし、その一方で企業には『変わってはいけない』側面も存在し、どのような環境になろうとも揺らいではいけないものが基本理念・経営理念になる。
