１９７８年のエネルギー供給量は１９７３年から５％ほど増えたものの、石油依存度は低下した。エネルギー供給量の内訳では、一次電力と天然ガスの増加が目立つ。原子力発電は１９７８年には１３地点で行われ、発電電力量の10.5%を占めていた。1965年に設置された通産大臣の諮問機関である総合エネルギー調査会は答申を二回出し、1970年に出された第二次答申では1975年のエネルギー供給予測を上方修正した。この予測は石油危機を織り込んでいなかったため、現実の数値とは大きく異なることとなった。
The amount of supplying energy in 1978 had increased by about 5% since 1973, but the dependency of oil got lower. The increase of the first electricity and natural gas is particular about consisting items of the supplying amount of energy. A general energy research committee that was an organization for inquires by the Minister of International Trade and Industry created in 1965 submitted answers twice, and they made corrections to their anticipation of energy supply for 1975 for ups in the latter submission of answers created in 1970. They didn't consider the oil crisis in this anticipation, so it got to be very different from the actual numbers.
