This event is intended to celebrate six years from the launch of the original iPhone, under the leadership of Steve Jobs and the release of the iPhone 5S and iPad 5, under the leadership of Apple’s current CEO, Tim Cook, as both of these devices are developed entirely under Cook’s authority .

I believe that a large part of Apple’s success is due to the vision and popularity of Steve Jobs and after the recent disappointments like Apple Maps, AAPL stock price going down, weak sales and Tim Cook’s approval rating falling, the company is trying to reconquer the public and reassure the investors, showing that Jobs’ passion and vision regarding Apple are still contemporary within the company.

　このイベントは、Steve Jobs氏の指揮の下、初代iPhoneが発売されてから6年目を記念すると同時に、現在のアップル社最高責任者Tim Cook氏の指揮でiPhone5SとiPad5が発売されることを祝うために企画されたのです。

　私は、アップル社が成功を収めたのは、Steve Jobs氏の洞察力や人気の高さに起因するところが多いと思います。当社は、Apple Mapsや、株価下落、売り上げの低迷、Tim Cook氏の支持率低落など、昨今では失墜が見られますが、アップル社に対するJobs氏の情熱や洞察力はいまだ健在であるということを示すことで、人気を回復し、開発者たちを安心させようとしています。

Hi, I’m Nozomi Okuma, Marketing Manager at Conyac. My native language is Japanese and I’ve been studying English as a second language for almost half of my life. I don’t have much problem with speaking two languages but when it comes to translating, I realize that the ability that I need for speaking and translating is completely different.

The reason why I started to translate is because I wanted to use my bilingual skill and open up a career as a translator. I didn’t have any education in translation and it is obviously difficult for an inexperienced translator like me to get a job. But Conyac offers newcomers a chance to translate and to practice their translation.

こんにちは、コニャックマーケティング部長のオクマノゾミと申します。私の母語は日本語で、人生のおよそ半分の間、第二言語として英語を勉強してきました。二つの言語を話すことには大した問題はありませんが、翻訳となると話は別です。私は、話す場合と翻訳する場合とでは、必要とされる能力が全く別物であるということに気付きました。

　私が翻訳をはじめたのは、バイリンガルの技術を使い、翻訳家としてのキャリアを切り開きたいと思ったからです。私は翻訳に関する教育を一切受けておらず、私のように未熟な翻訳家が仕事を得るのは非常に難しいことはわかっています。しかしコニャックは翻訳、及びその練習の機会を新参者に提供してくれるのです。
